Last Update 20th May 2025- Open Day Report, June meeting update and programme update

June 1st Meeting - Robin Ford

For the June 1st Open Meeting we have our friend from the York area Robin Ford. Robin has supported the NBS shows whenever possible in recent with a good anount of success, taking several major awards and numerous CC's with top quality birds, presented in excellent condition.

Robin and also promised to bring a matched pair of birds to be auctioned at the meeting, Robin will expalin the features, background and thoughts about the birds before the auction. As Robin obtained a third of the Alan Marchant stud when the last of them (Alan's retained breeding team I'm imformed by others!) I'm certainly looking forward to seeing these two.

Meeting starts at the normal 2:30 time at Bowburn.

Open Day 11th May 2025

As expected, a great Open Day with our speaker Keith Leedham giving a varied, detailed talk about his life in tthe fancy and his methods of housing, medication and everything else that cropped up. His first time at a NBS meeting, and he was well received by the entire room. Many thanks Keith.

The raffle held at the Open Day was also well supported and the five or six birds brought to the event were all sold with any spare proceeds going to the Society. Again many thanks to those that supported this.

2025 Programme

The 2025 handbook contains an error within the programme of open meetings for 2025.

The correct listing is as per this site which is

5th October - BS President Phil Reaney and NOT the bird and equipment meeting

2nd November - Rob Hughes, who has never spoken to an NBS Open Meeting before and is someone heavily involved in both the running of the BS Club Show and Gwynedd BS Platinum show.

We aplogise for this oversight.

Open and SRV Show Dates for 2025

Our 2025 Open show date has been mover back two weeks and will now be on week 28, the 13th July 2025. Judges are Bev Hutt, Graham Barton, John Punchard and Robbie Keeber.

Special and Rare Variety show date - September 14th 2025. Judges to be annouced soon.

Judges engaged are Ian Clarke and Adrian Richards
